FOR YOUR CHILD

The CASEN Social Media Readiness Course and CASEN Connect™

For neurodivergent children ages 9–13

This is one program in two parts. Your child learns the skills, then practices them.

Learn. The CASEN Social Media Readiness Course is five weeks. Your child learns about healthy relationships, bullying and cyberbullying, digital citizenship, online safety, digital footprints, and responsible decision-making. We start with what your child already does well and build from there.

Practice. CASEN Connect™ is social media with training wheels. It is invitation-only, and a facilitator approves every post before another child sees it. Your child starts with guided prompts such as the Question of the Day, and that support is reduced as they learn to respond in their own words.

We don’t wait until a teenager gets behind the wheel of a car to begin teaching them how to drive.

Why should social media be different?

“Children shouldn’t have to learn how to navigate the digital world through trial and error. We can teach them the skills, give them a safe place to practice, and prepare them to make healthier choices before the stakes become higher.”

– Dr. Myava Clark

FOR YOU AS A PARENT

MOEK: Mothers of Exceptional Kids

MOEK is a free community for mothers, fathers, and caregivers of neurodivergent children. Join our free monthly support group on the first Tuesday of every month at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.

Although Mothers of Exceptional Kids is in our name, MOEK welcomes all parents and caregivers.

In MOEK you can:

  •       Ask a question in the discussion forum and hear from parents who have been there.
  •       Learn from guest professionals, including educators, therapists, and advocates.
  •       Use guides, tip sheets, and lessons on advocacy, school, bullying, and online safety.

You don’t have to have all the answers. Sometimes the first step is simply having a community where you can ask the questions.
