What is Social-Emotional Learning?
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) is the process of developing the self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills that are essential for success in school, work and life. According to the Committee for Children, “People with strong social-emotional skills are better able to cope with everyday challenges and benefit academically, professionally, and socially. From effective problem-solving to self-discipline, from impulse control to emotional management and more, SEL provides a foundation for positive, long-term effects on kids, adults, and communities.” When children have strong social-emotional skills, children thrive, schools win, workplaces benefit, and society strengthens.
CASEN creates a safe online environment to support students’ academic achievement by helping them identify their own individual strengths. This is done through guided lessons on how to present oneself and how to respond appropriately on social media.
Self-regulation is the ability to control and manage thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that have been linked to academic achievement in numerous studies. Through the activities and lessons provided by CASEN, students will be able to identify and, eventually, better manage said thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
CASEN believes that with the proper support and encouragement through the site and with the help of educators, students will improve their social emotional learning which will make them better students academically and allow them to be better prepared for college, the workforce, and the real world.

How does CASEN prepare you for social media?
Social media includes any websites and applications that allows users to create and share content or to participate in social networking. Social media is internet-based and it gives users quick electronic communication. Content may include personal information, pictures and videos.
CASEN teaches students how a selfie could tell a predator where the child is in real time, when they post a picture or video on social media. There are settings that should be turned off on a phone to prevent giving up personal information.
CASEN LLC provides a safe environment for children with special needs as well as children with social and emotional needs.
