Is This Course Right for Your Child?

This course is for neurodivergent children ages 9–13 who:

  • Are asking for a phone, a game, or an app, and you’re not sure they’re ready
  • Already game or chat online, and you want them to know what to do when something goes wrong
  • Trust quickly and don’t always see when someone isn’t being a friend
  • Misread texts or group chats and end up hurt or left out

Your child doesn’t need to be on social media yet. Many families take the course before their child gets a first phone or account.

What Your Child Will Learn

Every lesson is built on the CASEN Compass™:

  • ❤️ Connection: What a healthy friendship looks like, online and offline.
  • 🛡️ Safety: What stays private, what unsafe looks like, and when to get a trusted adult.
  • 📣 Advocacy: How to ask for help, report what’s wrong, and speak up respectfully.
  • 🧭 Navigation: How to stop and think before they post, share, or respond.

Across the five weeks, children work through healthy relationships, bullying and cyberbullying, digital citizenship, online safety, digital footprints, and responsible decision-making.

How the Course Works

Learn live, once a week. Every Tuesday from 6–7 p.m. Eastern Time, your child joins a small online class taught by Dr. Myava Clark or a trained CASEN facilitator. They answer questions, watch short videos, and talk through real situations with peers.

Practice a little every night. Monday through Friday, your child spends about 15–20 minutes on short self-paced lessons: they watch a 2–5 minute video, read a scenario on the discussion board, answer its question, and respond to at least one classmate’s post. They also answer the Question of the Day, which is based on the previous day’s bullying lesson, and read the bullying information for the next day’s question. Missed a night? The weekend is there for catch-up.

Try it out in CASEN Connect™. Your child practices what they learn in a moderated, invitation-only space, where a facilitator approves every post before another child sees it. They start with guided responses and work toward their own words.

Does a parent need to help? Most children ages 9–13 can do the nightly work on their own, depending on their abilities. You may want to stay nearby for questions during the first few sessions.

We adjust to your child. Every child learns differently. If something isn’t working for your child, tell us and we’ll adapt.

Built with specialists. The course was developed with physical and speech therapists and a general education teacher, then reviewed and updated by a social-emotional learning teacher.

What’s Included

  • 5 live online classes with Dr. Myava Clark or a trained CASEN facilitator
  • About 25 nightly self-paced lessons, 15–20 minutes each
  • About three months in CASEN Connect™: the five weeks of the course plus 60 free days afterward
  • A student readiness assessment at the start and end of the course. You can compare your child’s answers with your own results from the parent assessment and see how they’ve grown.
  • A parent account in CASEN Connect™, where you can see what your child is writing and connect with other parents

What You’ll Need

  • A computer or tablet with a working camera and microphone
  • A reliable internet connection
  • A quiet space for the Tuesday live class
  • Headphones (optional, but helpful for children who are distracted by noise)

A computer or tablet is recommended, especially for the discussion board. A phone works for the Question of the Day and for reviewing assignments.

What Families Are Saying

CJ, CASEN participant

Thanks to CASEN, I am more responsible. Now, I limit my time on social media and video games to make time for my other activities.

Kelley Costa, parent

Thanks to CASEN, my son now has the tools he needs… Not only is he more aware, he can recognize bullying and he can self-manage when it comes to his video games.

Theresa Saunders, grandmother of a CASEN participant

When I shared my concerns and suggestions with CASEN, they wasted no time making adjustments to better meet her individual learning needs… Roxanna enjoys having the opportunity to answer questions and interact with her peers. She is beginning to understand the information at her own pace… I appreciate that CASEN recognizes that every child learns differently and is willing to make adjustments so that children like Roxanna can participate, learn, and feel included.

My child isn’t on social media yet. Is it too early?
No. The best time to learn these skills is before your child needs them. Many children in the course game or chat online but don’t have social media accounts yet.
My child has learning differences. Will they be able to keep up?
The course was built for neurodivergent children. Lessons are short and structured, and we adjust when a child needs something different. Tell us about your child when you enroll.
What if my child misses a live class?
Your child can watch the recording. If the class included an activity, they’ll receive a makeup activity to complete and submit for the facilitator to review. Recordings are posted privately inside CASEN Connect™ for children enrolled in that course only, and they stay available for as long as your child has access to CASEN Connect™.
Does my child need to be on camera?
Seeing one another helps children build community. It’s especially valuable for neurodivergent children, who can practice reading facial expressions and watching how peers interact. That’s why we ask children to keep their cameras on during live classes. If your child is unwell or finds being on camera difficult, just let us know. They may be excused, and we’ll encourage them to turn it on when they’re ready.
What happens after the five weeks?

Your child keeps free access to CASEN Connect™ for 60 days, so they can keep practicing. After that, you can choose to continue for $9.99 a month. Families who want more personal support can contact CASEN Support at support@casenllc.com.

What is your refund policy?

All sales are final, and we don’t offer refunds. If your child can’t attend the course you enrolled in, contact CASEN Support at support@casenllc.com before the course begins. At CASEN’s discretion, we may be able to move your child to a later course date.

Do you offer a discount for more than one child?

Yes. Your first child pays the early enrollment or regular price, and each additional child from the same family gets $50 off any price option. Questions? Contact CASEN Support at support@casenllc.com.

Can I bring my own group of children? Do we have to wait for the next course date?

No. Organizations with 10 or more children can enroll at other times and receive a group rate. Contact CASEN Support at support@casenllc.com to plan your group’s course.

Give Your Child a Safe Place to Practice

Children shouldn’t have to learn the digital world by trial and error. In five weeks, your child learns the skills, practices them every night, and tries them out with peers while trusted adults are still there to guide them.
